The Board of Trustees of Nuffic, a member organisation of ACA, has announced the appointment of Marco Schouten as the organisation’s new director-general, effective 1 August 2025. 

Schouten brings extensive leadership experience in international education and complex organisations. The Board of Trustees highlighted his strategic insight, calm leadership style, and international background as key strengths for leading Nuffic in the years ahead. 

“I am honoured and enthusiastic to start working as director-general of Nuffic," said Schouten. "With my broad experience in education and international organisations, I hope to make a valuable contribution." 

Schouten succeeds Imke Frijters, who has served as interim director-general of Nuffic since 1 January 2025.
