Make it in the Netherlands! Advisory report on retaining international students in the Netherlands

SER. Make it in the Netherlands! Advisory report on retaining international students in the Netherlands. Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands, 2013.

In April 2013, the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands has published its advisory report on retaining talented international students in the Netherlands. The report, entitled Make it in the Netherlands!, has been commissioned by the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Ms Jet Bussemaker. The main conclusions of the report are that the Netherlands’ prosperity, its economy and higher education will all benefit enormously if talented foreign students can be persuaded to study in the country and stay after graduating. Companies, public and non-profit organisations, educational institutions and the government should make more vigorous joint efforts to attract and retain foreign students. Employment and labour market shortages should play a much more important role than they do now.
