Mainstreaming the social dimension in the EHEA. Country and HEI SD profiles

Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), and OeAD. (2021). Mainstreaming the Social Dimension in the EHEA. Country and HEI SD profiles.

The publication provides country and HEI profiles from seven members of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) (in addition to Austria: Flemish Community of Belgium, Croatia, Hungary, Republic of Ireland, Romania, UK/Scotland). These profiles constitute examples of good practice of the implementation of strategies on the social dimension on national and institutional level. In addition, both the implementation of the Austrian National Strategy for the Social Dimension of Higher Education since its launch in 2017 as well as future steps planned on the national level in Austria are depicted. It further presents the outcomes of an international peer learning activity (PLA) organized in October 2020 as part of the Erasmus+ Key Action 3 project “INternationalisation/INclusion/ INnovation: Towards high-quality inclusive mobility and innovative teaching & learning in an internationalised Austrian Higher Education Area – 3-IN-AT“.

Two contributions by Consultative Members of the EHEA, that also contributed to the PLA, complete the publication: the European University Association (EUA) conducted a comparative analysis of the activities presented in the country and HEI profiles, the European Students’ Union (ESU) offers insights in the development and content of the Principles and Guidelines to Strengthen the Social Dimension of Higher Education in the EHEA which were adopted as an Annex to the Rome Communique by the ministers of the EHEA in November 2020.
