Lessons learned from India-UK research collaboration

Gore, T. Global Research Collaboration: The UKIERI India-UK Initiative – Lessons from Practice for Sustainable International Partnerships. Observatory on Borderless Higher Education, 2008.

The paper explores the development and rationale behind higher education partnerships, with a particular focus on research collaborations. Employing contemporary thinking on strategic alliances, namely social network and social capital theories, the author tries to asses how this type of cooperation can be best facilitated and managed. The specific India-UK research collaboration is taken as a case-study: the UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) is presented with the main aim of drawing lessons from this singular project for research collaboration in general.
