This publication is the result of the 2nd Asia-Europe Education Workshop “Knowledge Societies: Universities and their Social Responsibilities”, which was jointly organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation and the University of Innsbruck (Austria) in June 2011. This workshop focused on the concept of University Social Responsibility (USR). Since different conceptualizations exist around USR across different countries, this workshop sought to consolidate an overview of USR best practices in ASEM countries. This publication includes an introductory paper, a summary of the workshop discussions and recommendations, and five selected case studies.

Asia-Europe Foundation
