Karin Röding is the new Director General of the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR)

 
ACA’s Swedish member - the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) has a new Director General. Karin Röding is currently State Secretary to the Minister for Higher Education and Research, Helene Hellmark Knutsson, where she is responsible for planning and coordination in the ministry in both designated areas - higher education and research. She has a doctoral degree in Medical Science from the Karolinska Institutet, where she also held a number of teaching and management positions in the 1990s and 2000s, the latest being that of the University Director in the period 2007-2011. Ms Röding was also Vice-Chancellor at Mälardalen University from 2011 until assuming the State Secretary position in 2016. 
 
Familiar with the work of the Swedish Council for Higher Education, Karin Röding was a member and deputy chair of the Council’s board from 2013 until 2016. 
 
“This is good news for the Council”, says Ulf Melin, present Director General of the Swedish Council for Higher Education, UHR. “Karin Röding has solid experience from many relevant positions in the field of education. I am very pleased that she will be leading UHR in the future.”
 
Karin Röding will start her term on 1 April.
