The Irish Higher Education Authority, joining other EU countries in supporting the initiative, has announced funding of EUR 3.1 million to be awarded to Irish higher education institutions, who are members of seven European University alliances. Each of the participating HEIs will received an amount of EUR 442.000 per institution.
The funding is expected to strengthen the role of Irish HEIs across seven EUI consortia, supporting student exchanges, researchers, and engagement. With 50% of Irish institutions participating in the awarded alliances, the Irish government intends to show, through this funding, its commitment to the ambitious vision of an innovative, globally competitive, and attractive European Education Area.
Several other EU member states have also opted to provide additional funding to support their universities participating in the European Universities programme.
