In this advice paper, LERU describes how to exploit research collaboration to attain excellence in education, by increasing and developing new and more diverse forms of student mobility. The paper divides its investigations into three mobility schemes: exchange mobility and collaboration; networked mobility and collaboration; and embedded mobility and collaboration. It offers a detailed description of these models, providing information on their objectives, impact on the curriculum, quality as well as management and business models. After comparison of the different forms, the paper offers recommendations to policy-makers and universities, at European, national and institutional level.
