Intercultural learning in non-formal education: Theoretical frameworks and starting points

Lafraya, S. Intercultural learning in non-formal education: Theoretical frameworks and starting points. Council of Europe Publishing, Strasbourg, 2012. ISBN: 978-92-871-6822-1. Pages: 51. This brief publication from the Council of Europe is a contribution to enlarging the circle of communication on intercultural learning experience through youth work (understood in the European context as engagement with young people and youth-oriented initiatives). The partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth worker training and intercultural dialogue, in particular in the context of Euro-Mediterranean co-operation activities, has provided many examples of successful experiences in intercultural learning in youth work and of difficulties in communicating about such work. The author addresses this gap by highlighting the connections between non-formal learning, youth work and intercultural theory. The publication is a translation from the Spanish original and was published with the aim of solidifying the foundations linking intercultural learning and non-formal education in practice.
