Inclusion ACAdemy: institutional examples

The fifth session of the Inclusion ACAdemy training series organised by ACA and SIHO in cooperation with HK-dir brought together participants for a final exchange of institutional practices and reflections on inclusive internationalisation. Held online on 21 May 2026, the session focused on concrete examples from higher education institutions that are actively working to make international opportunities more accessible and inclusive for all students.

The workshop started with a presentation from Tomáš Varga, Deputy Director of the Teiresias Centre at Masaryk University. He introduced the university’s inclusive policies and practices, highlighting the role of institutional support structures in ensuring equal access for students with diverse needs. The presentation offered participants practical insights into how accessibility and inclusion can be embedded across internationalisation strategies and student services. Participants then explored a case study from Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, presented by Alja Kiseleva and Ann-Marie Van Noten. Their contribution focused on institutional approaches to student support and inclusive participation in mobility programmes, emphasising mental health support.

Following a short break, Wannes Gijsels from the International Relations Office at University of Antwerp shared experiences on inclusive internationalisation initiatives, including alternative internationalisation formats and the Antwerp Summer and Winter University programmes. The session concluded with an engaging discussion among participants, followed by final reflections and a collective wrap-up.

One final session remains in the training series, during which participants will work on developing institutional roadmaps to further strengthen inclusive internationalisation practices within their own contexts.
