The Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Freie Universität Berlin have together published a report under the title Joint and Double Degree Programs in the Global Context.

Based on their previous collaborative research activities in the transatlantic context under the EU-Atlantis Programme and the results of a spring 2011 survey conducted amongst 245 higher education institutions (see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, January 2011), the project partners have developed an assessment of a wealth of joint and double degree programmes in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Combining a global perspective and a country-specific approach, the authors of the report point to a global spread of this initially Europe-wide phenomenon and identify some strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and challenges that are associated with these specific educational instruments.
