IDP: Global Student Mobility: An Australian Perspective Five Years On

Banks, Melissa, Olsen, Alan and Pearce, David, Global Student Mobility: An Australian Perspective Five Years On, IDP. Sydney: 2007. ISBN: 978-0-9758194-3-2.

The study Global Student Mobility: An Australian Perspective Five Years On is the third of its kind published by IDP Education to forecast demand for international higher education. The framework builds on previous work and takes advantage of the latest information sets to ultimately combine both demand and supply side drivers. A “What If?”-Calculator enables users to vary key assumptions, build their own forecasts and undertake risk analyses for key markets. The framework presented here builds on the 1995 study International Education: Australia's Potential Demand and Supply and the 2002 publication Global Student Mobility 2025, using updated available global data on international education.

The study includes projections of the number of foreign students coming to Australia (by country). This is done indirectly by building up the projections from a number of key elements, each of which can be determined by appropriate assumptions combined with empirical analysis of the relationship between the key elements.
