The Ministry for Education, Science and Sport has released guidelines for the start of the new academic year and they recommend a so-called hybrid approach, meaning that if the minimum standards set by The National Institute for Public Health can be met, the lectures will be delivered in classrooms, but they will also be recorded and streamed for those that will follow them remotely due to lack of space. All universities are accepting foreign students (international and exchange) and are also providing assistance in finding the accommodation, especially in case when students need to be quarantined. Under the coordination of the Ministry for Education, Science and Sport the Council of the Republic of Slovenia for Higher Education has started with the preparation of the National Programme for Higher Education for the period from 2021 to 2030, where the priority areas will be set on national level with measures and indicators. CMEPIUS will act as an active contributor in regards to the internationalisation part of the programme.

This year CMEPIUS’ largest yearly conference, so called valorisation conference, has been held online with around 200 participants. The main topic of the conference titled “3x7” was the presentation of the impact of 7 years of Erasmus+ programme in all 4 education sectors. Coming to Erasmus+ during the summer months all selection processes for Call 2020 were concluded and in Higher Education 83 projects (5 strategic partnerships and 78 mobility projects) have already started with their activities.

As the Erasmus+ National Agency, CMEPIUS also started promotional activities for additional Erasmus+ KA2 Call following the priority of innovative practices in a digital era with a deadline at the end of October. In September a national commission for bilateral scholarships was held and has made a selection of students that will come to Slovenia in the upcoming academic year. 30 students from countries like Japan, China, Russia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Herzegovina, India and Italy will receive scholarships.

In line with its decision to move all activities related to Study in Slovenia Initiative online, CMEPIUS will also participate in online fairs in Ukraine and Japan in cooperation with Slovenian embassies and consulates. CMEPIUS will also hold online presentations for students from Western Balkan countries in November.
