Braunschweig University of Technology, University of Hohenheim, University of Kassel, Cologne University of Applied Sciences and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich have each won EUR 5 million (a total of EUR 25 million), in a competition among 44 higher education projects, to strengthen cooperation with partners in developing countries on a variety of issues, such as water management, food security and international health, among others.
The projects are part of an initiative promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, within the frame of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, and will be carried out through five networks between German universities and their counterparts in Sub-Sahara Africa, Middle and South America, South Asia and the Middle East.
