This publication highlights key findings on current higher education trends and issues in eight countries of the Western Balkans – namely Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo (under UN resolution 1244), the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. 17 higher education institutions were analysed for the purpose of this study, which offers a sound overview of higher education reforms in the region, regional distinctions, differentiation and institutional diversity, the implementation of the Bologna process and its associated difficulties, internationalisation and international cooperation, etc.
