Institute of International Education. Higher Education in Africa: Equity, Access, Opportunity. IIE Publishing, New York, 2010. ISBN 978-0-87206-334-1. Pages: 162.
This book examines three major challenges facing African higher education – access, quality and cost – and the range of mechanisms and approaches designed to address and alleviate these complex and interrelated issues. The main focus is on the experiences of four specific countries (Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa) and includes the perspectives of over a dozen international and African higher education specialists. The volume is an output of the African Higher Education Collaborative (AHEC), a project of the Institute of International Education's Council for International Exchange of Scholars, with support from the Ford Foundation office in Egypt.
