A new study by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) sketches out the political and legal framework for recruitment and retention of international students. It names the most important actors as well as existing challenges, actions and strategies at the federal, regional and university level in the field of internationalisation. The study addresses issues such as the residence permit regulations for international students; recruitment strategies and marketing measures for studying in Germany; transition of international students into the German labour market; and, cooperation with third countries in the field of higher education. The study was carried out by the German National Contact Point for the European Migration Network (EMN) and it will soon be available in English.
