The German Rectors‘ Conference (HRK) recently published statistical data on higher education courses in Germany. According to the information provided, over 17 000 degree programmes were offered by German higher education institutions in the winter semester 2014/2015, the total number of Master’s courses slightly exceeding the one of bachelor’s programmes for the first time. Access restrictions have also been reduced considerably and according to the data approximately half of Bachelor's courses have no restrictions and almost two thirds of Master's programmes are also restriction fees. Another highlight from the recent data is the continuation of the positive trend in graduate numbers, with 400 000 students graduating in the 2013 academic year – twice as many as ten years ago.
