The “MOOC Production Fellowship” contest sponsored by Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft and the Berlin-based open learning platform iversity, set out to support the rising trend of massive open online courses (see ACA Newsletter – Education Online, February 2013).
The application deadline is 30 April, 2013, and any assistant, associate or full professor from around the globe is eligible for participation. The aim of the contest is to identify at least ten creative and innovative concepts and offer five of them online in Fall 2013. Fellowships will be awarded to the instructors or teams of instructors with the most innovative concept, who will receive EUR 25 000 each for the production of their online course.
The voting stage begins on 1 May, 2013 and ends on 23 May. By 10 June, the selection committee (a panel of eleven experts) will select the winners, taking into account the results of the public voting phase. This partly makes up for the absence of students or individuals representative of potential MOOC participants on the voting committee.
More information about the contest can be found by visiting the website.
