Statistisches Bundesamt. Deutsche Studierende im Ausland. Statistischer Überblick 2001 – 2011. 2013. Pages: 41.
Where do German students go and what do they study? Based on a compilation of different data sets, the report by the Federal Statistical Office tries to give a detailed overview of German students’ study destinations and their choice of studies since 2001. The report acknowledges methodological flaws, mainly due to the fact that different data sets follow different definitions of international students. Consequently, credit mobility is sometimes mingled with degree mobility which distorts total figures. Nevertheless, the report also provides separate figures on the number of German graduates abroad, indicating exclusively – at least in most of the cases – degree mobility.
