European Commission/EACEA/Eurydice. Funding of Education in Europe 2000-2012: The Impact of the Economic Crisis. Publications Office of the European Union, Luxembourg, 2013. Pages: 100.
This study looks at the trends in education spending over the period 2000-2012 and analyses how the financial and economic crisis has affected European education budgets in recent years (2011-2012). The report examines funding at all levels of education, from pre-primary to tertiary level, and also provides an overview of the main trends in the adult learning sector. After describing the overall changes in education funding, the study concentrates on the impact of the downturn on the three pillars of the education system, i.e. human resources, education infrastructure and financial support for students.
