In 2009, European ministers of education set the ambitious target of 20% outbound student mobility, to be reached by 2020. Some European countries have even higher aspirations: Germany and Austria both aim for 50% outgoing mobility. Many believe that such goals cannot be attained unless ‘mobility windows’ are systematically be integrated into curricula, i.e. that mobility becomes structurally ‘embedded’-- for instance, through joint and double degree programmes. 

Joint and double degree programmes are the theme of a one-day seminar which ACA and its Czech member, Dum zahranicní spolupráce (DZS), will hold in the beautiful city of Prague on 29 October 2015. The seminar is free of charge, but participants must cover their travel and accommodation cost. The seminar targets internationalisation specialist from universities and other higher education institutions, ministries of education, and higher education associations, amongst others. We expect most attendees to be from Europe, but we will also warmly welcome participants from other world regions. 

The core of the seminar will consist of examples of good practice of joint and double degrees both between European universities and between higher education institutions in Europe and such in other parts of the world. The programme will also give an insight into the history of double and joint degrees - which goes back further in time than most would think – and introduce participants to the wider concept of ‘mobility windows’.  In the choice of speakers, ACA and DZS have been guided by one simple principle: only the best.
