What do young Europeans think about Europe? Under the influence of the Brexit referendum and growing Euro-scepticism, the Bertelsmann Foundation, together with the Warsaw-based think tank Institute of Public Affairs and four other partners, asked young people in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic about their attitudes towards Europe and different societal trends and values, such as democracy, multiculturalism and globalization.
The survey showed that youth in these countries are mostly pro-European and in favour of staying in the Union. They are convinced of the benefits of European integration but also see a necessity for reforms. On the other hand, differences appear when it comes to their approach towards immigration and refugees.
