Exclusively dedicated to the upcoming European Parliament elections on 22-25 May 2014, the European Parliament has launched a new multilingual information platform within the framework of its information campaign initiated three months ago (see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, September 2013).

The new web platform elections2014.eu will offer news, press releases, background notes as well as infographics on developments concerning the upcoming elections, general information on the EU, the institutions, member states and the different European political parties.  In line with the European Parliament’s information campaign, the website puts a strong emphasis on several key topics which had been identified as particularly important for EU citizens – economy, jobs, money, quality of life and the EU in the world.

Given the traditionally low voting turn-out at European Parliament elections, a budget of EUR 16 million has been earmarked for the elections information campaign in order to raise awareness of the European Parliament’s importance as the only directly elected European Union institution.
