Covid-19 imposed distance education measures revealed several structural issues related to digital education and broader weak spots in education systems that extend beyond contextual and sector-related issues. To address such issues, the Commission published the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027), which includes the development of a Digital Education Hub that will be created as part of the European Education Area portal.
The Hub is set to offer a platform for the community of practice including digital education stakeholders in Europe and beyond. Practitioners and stakeholders have the opportunity to exchange about their everyday experiences and share expert knowledge, innovative ideas and resources.
Practitioners and stakeholders from the field are currently invited to join the dynamic online community of the European Digital Education Hub and work together on transforming digital education.
The Hub’s first community workshop took place in Tallin, Estonia on 20-21 June, addressing the topic of "Mainstreaming lessons learned from Covid-19". ACA’s Raul Ranne held the session "Student mobility remade - new formats of mobility during Covid-19," where he presented the ACA report "Students’ motivations for Blended and Virtual International Exchanges During COVID-19".
The Hub’s second community workshop will take place on 27-28 October 2022 in Brussels. Dedicated to "Digital Education in Times of Crises: Emergency Education Enablers". The workshop will bring together digital education stakeholders from all sectors and offer the opportunity for participants to exchange cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary perspectives on digital education in times of crises. The participants will be able to share best practices and engage in peer-learning, while working to create a set of policy recommendations on digital education in times of crises. Registrations to the workshop are possible via the European Digital Education Hub until 2 October 2022.
The European Digital Education Hub is an initiative of the European Commission, funded by the Erasmus+ programme (2021-2027) and operated by a consortium of 11 organisations led by ACA member, DAAD, under a service contract with the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). ACA acts as an associated member of the consortium.
