The 15th edition of the European Development Days (EDD) - the biggest forum at European level to discuss current issues in international partnerships – was convened by the European Commission on 21-22 June 2022, in a hybrid format (online and at Brussels EXPO). The encompassing theme of the event was “Global Gateway: building sustainable partnerships for a connected world,” with a focus on creating sustainable partnerships oriented to bringing the world together.
The 90+ sessions covered the five thematic streams of the event, matching the five partnership and investment areas of the Global Gateway Strategy, namely: digital, climate and energy, transport, health, and education and research, as well as wider issues such as geopolitics, resilient systems, food security, financial and geographical dimensions. Convening experts also discussed the impact of the Strategy flagships on Africa, Latin America, Central Asia, the Indo-Pacific and EU’s Neighborhood. Two ACA members participated as partners in the event, co-delivering The EU Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region Programme (EU SHARE) (DAAD & Nuffic) and the E-learning online & offline for vulnerable communities (Nuffic) sessions.
The EDD Young Leaders 2022, convened through the programme by the same name, took part in policy-related discussions and panels. An exhibition area – the Global village - provided an opportunity to learn more about projects, reports and activities from all around the globe.
