Hélène Clark has been named director for resources and communication in the European Commission’s Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. Ms. Clark left her previous post as director of lifelong-learning policies and programmes in the Commission’s education and culture department at the beginning of March 2012.

She has been replaced by António Silva Mendes, previously the director of resources in the Directorate General for Education and Culture (since April 2006). Mr. Mendes joined the European Commission in 1990 after spending nine years at the University of Lisbon and Algarve. Prior to joining DG Education and Culture Mr. Mendes spent three years serving as Head of Unit – Pensions at PMO – the office for administration and payment of individual entitlements.
