This publication provides an assessment of the applicability of existing credit systems to national VET systems, with the view of formulating a European credit (transfer) system for vocational education and training (ECVET). It is based on a study carried out by the Centre of Research on Higher Education and Work of the University of Kassel, Germany on behalf of Cedefop (the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training). The countries covered by the study are Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland and Spain. The report provides an overview of different models of credit systems as well as a proposal for a set of common principles for a European credit (transfer) system.
