Europe-Africa Quality Connect: Building Institutional Capacity through Partnership

European University Association. Europe-Africa Quality Connect: Building Institutional Capacity through Partnership. Author, Brussels, 2012. Pages: 72.

This report presents the results of a two-year pilot project (October 2010 – September 2012) led by the European University Association (EUA) and the Association of African Universities (AAU) to support the development of quality assurance (QA) in African higher education. This project tested the suitability of EUA’s Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP) methodology in different institutions and national contexts in Africa. Universities from five African countries (Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia and Republic of Gabon), differing in their size and relationship to the State participated in the project. Some of the conclusions presented include the need to keep conducting institutional evaluations in Africa and the commitment of AAU to continue implementing QA evaluation programmes across Africa.
