EU students to benefit from Chinese scholarships

Following the commitment made by China at its 2006 Summit meeting with the EU, the Ministry of Education of China has initiated a full scholarship scheme for the European youth. The Chinese Government Scholarship Programme (part of the EU External Relations ‘Asia Windows’) will support EU students to study Chinese in China for a maximum of 1 year. For the period 2007-2011, 100 full scholarships will be provided per academic year. To be eligible, candidates should be citizens of the European Union, high school graduates or undergraduates, and under the age of 35. The deadline for applications for the 2007-2008 academic year is 20 April.

Applications are to be submitted to the Mission of China to the European Union. The scholarship scheme is administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), designated by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Detailed explanations about the scholarship programme, as well as an application form, are available on the web site of the Mission of China to the EU, and of the CSC. CSC
