The European Commission is seeking proposals for a Europe-China School of Law in the People's Republic of China
. The project aims at improving the knowledge, skills and performance of the Chinese legal profession in relation to European and international law. The school would ultimately play a key role in supporting the transition process and the sustainability of legal, social and economic reforms in China.
Following the Chinese government’s adoption of the Reform and Open Door Policy
, China has made considerable progress in modernising its laws and legal institutions. This has inspired the EU to commit to opening a Europe-China School of Law.
