The main activity of the EU eLearning programme, called eTwinning has been a great success in terms of participation.
Since it was established in
January 2005, over 10,000 schools have registered their interest. The eTwinning portal is an instrument that schools can use to exchange ideas and material or to look for partners for short term projects or longer term cooperation in any subject area. This tools has helped 1,500 primary and secondary schools to get involved in a project with one or more European partner schools
