On 7–8 November 2024, the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education and Culture (DG EAC) and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) hosted a thematic seminar in Brussels titled “Planning and delivering jointness in Erasmus Mundus Master programmes”. The seminar was organised under the Erasmus Mundus Support Initiative (EMSI), as a joint effort by the consortium partners, including ACA (with an important role in programme development and coordination), in the year that also marks the 20th anniversary of the programme (for more details, see ACA Newsletter – Education Europe, May 2024).
The programme featured multiple inputs from experts and speakers from higher education institutions from Europe and beyond. Over two days of discussions, parallel sessions, and case studies, approximately 70 experienced academics and administrative staff explored and redefined jointness in higher education and Erasmus Mundus programmes, sharing strategies and practices while building new connections and partnerships. Moreover, inputs from students and alumni of Erasmus Mundus programmes highlighted the student perspective on jointness in the various parallel sessions. Expert-level discussions among the participants facilitated a rich exchange of best practices and challenges, allowing them to gain comparative perspectives, draw inspiration from their peers, and further advance practices on jointness at the programme level.
