EIT Digital (European Institute of Innovation & Technology) has opened a new Node in Madrid that will boost digital innovation in Spain and increase concerted capacities to advance Europe’s digital transformation.

Since 2013 EIT digital had established its presence in Spain through its Associate Partner Group (APG), but becoming a full Node as of January 2017 Madid now enjoys equal rights to the eight other European Nodes of EIT Digital (Berlin, Eindhoven, Helsinki, London, Madrid, Paris, Stockholm and Trento). This status will speed up expansion of activities, supported by funding of EUR 15million in 2017 alone, which will foster innovation and Entrepreneurship including Entrepreneurial education.

To Date EIT Digital together with its Spanish partners, including Atos, the IMDEA Software Institute, Indra, Ferrovial, the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Nokia-Spain and Telefonica, have participated in 23 innovation activities in areas as new products and services for a competitive Digital Industry market in Europe, and ten scale-ups are part of the pan-European Accelerator to receive backing in penetrating new European markets and accessing funding.  Moreover, EIT Digital hosts four programmes at master level in Spain alongside a Doctoral Training Centre.

Madrid as an EIT Digital full Node will provide a space of opportunities for researchers, entrepreneurs and educators to benefit from peer learning and generate innovation.
