This study assesses how the 23 LERU (League of European Research Universities) located in 12 countries throughout Europe contributed to the economy in 2016, in terms of:
-Their contribution to income and employment;
-The student-related contribution from students spending, working, volunteering and undertaking placements;
-The knowledge transfer, enterprise and innovation activity created by and arising from the LERU Universities;
-The tourism contribution created by visitors to staff and students and attendance at conferences and events held at the universities;
-The life-time productivity gains from teaching and learning delivered by each institutions.
