DZS & Fulbright Commission work towards developing Czech- U.S. university cooperation

In June, the Fulbright Commission, in collaboration with ACA’s Czech member the Centre for International Cooperation in Education (DZS) and the Study in the Czech Republic Contact Network, organised a U.S. Study Abroad Capacity-Building Workshop.

Staff and students from U.S. and Czech higher education institutions attended the event, which focused on developing cooperation between Czech and U.S. universities. In a panel discussion, representatives of U.S. institutions shared their successes and challenges related to sending students to the Czech Republic, marketing of their Study Abroad programmes and the use of technology in developing new models of cooperation, such as Global Classrooms. American students presented their reasons for choosing the Czech Republic as their study destination and shared their perspective on the similarities and differences of the two education systems.

DZS and Czech higher education institutions presented their successes in cooperating with U.S. institutions within the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility action and reflected on their recent attendance at the NAFSA Conference & Expo. The workshop also included a session titled “Challenges of Marketing of Higher Education” by Preben Sperling, a leading European expert in international marketing of universities. The event was much appreciated by the participants, who plan to reconvene at the next similar Fulbright workshop to be held in Philadelphia prior to the NAFSA 2018 fair.
