With the newly introduced DistanceLearningPortal, the Eindhoven-based StudyPortals has filled another information gap for students searching for study opportunities in Europe. The new portal launched at the EADTU Conference 2012 by the Commissioner for Education and Culture, Ms Vassiliou, already presents over 1 400 online and distance learning programmes from more than 230 institutions. The study programmes are presented alongside student stories, informative videos and articles, which seek to provide potential students more contextualised information during their search for programmes.
The new portal, building on the existing platform hosting a number of other portals: MastersPortal, BachelorsPortal, PhDportal, ShortCoursesPortal and ScholarshipPortal, aims at showcasing European open and learning programmes to millions of prospective students world-wide. It has been jointly developed by EADTU and StudyPortals and is co-funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus programme.
As a new portal, it naturally requires users from the other end of the information exchange, the institutions, to feed in their study programmes that target prospective students who are in search of a flexible mode of learning.
