Early September the German Scholars Organisation (GSO) in cooperation with the DAAD, the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) held the fourth meeting of young German researchers working in the United States. The event took place at the University of California in San Diego.

About 150 young academics discussed career opportunities with German representatives from the academic and political sector. Intensive networking supported by the DAAD initiative GAIN (German Academic International Network)  shall help to decrease the so called Brain Drain. The German Initiative for Excellence Competition and the European Research Area contribute to creating an innovative atmosphere for young researchers to return to Germany or to any other EU-member state.
