In 2006, Germany is not only going to host the FIFA World Cup: the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is organising a parallel “world cup” for foreign students who are currently studying in Germany. The event is going to take place in Cologne from 27 to 30 April 2006.
The idea behind the event is to create a special forum for exchange and encounter. DAAD has invited the students to form national or regional teams. It will cover the costs of the 16 student teams who will be competing against each other in Cologne in April. The teams will be selected by a special internal soccer expert commission. Teams of students can register until 20 January 2006 via the DAAD website.
