The DAAD is intensifying its academic exchange with the United Kingdom and will open a research hub for German studies at the University of Cambridge in January 2016. The funding of EUR 1 million over 5 years will support scholarships, workshops and debates, plus an annual conference and an annual lecture at the renowned British University. DAAD President Professor Margret Wintermantel and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, have signed the corresponding agreement. Sir Borysiewicz welcomed the project and said: “Few nations can boast such a powerful tradition of scholarship and learning as Germany, which plays a critical economic and political role at the heart of Europe. We therefore welcome this golden opportunity to foster even greater partnership between Cambridge and Germany.”
