European survey on internationalisation of teacher education
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Diku Norway will further promote the topic of internationalisation of teacher education in 2020. To this end, the two organisations have jointly issued a survey on the topic, addressed to higher education representatives, who are involved in teacher education at institutions around Europe. Participation from all over Europe is highly appreciated! The survey is open until the 18 February. The results of the survey aim to contribute to political discussions, planned by the Croatian EU council presidency in 2020 and feet into a conference on the internationalisation of teacher education, planned by DAAD and Diku on 8/9 June in Brussels.
The conference will discuss teacher students' possibilities to gain international experience during pre-service education at higher education institutions as well as structural obstacles regarding the internationalisation of teacher education.
DAAD supports European University Networks
DAAD has launched a national accompanying programme, supporting the 15 German higher education institutions who have been successful in the European Union’s “European University Initiative” as well as five projects from German institutions, which were not selected in the EU call due to budgetary constraints.
The 15 selected universities are FU Berlin, Hertie School, University Bremen, TU Darmstadt, Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden, Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, TU Hamburg, Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, Karlsruhe Institute for Technology, Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel, University Leipzig, Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, University Potsdam and Eberhard Karls University Tübingen.
The five additional universities are Hochschule Darmstadt, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, TU München, University Siegen und HAW Würzburg-Schweinfurt.
The German accompanying programme supports the 20 selected projects for three years until 2023 with a total of EUR 28 million.
New DAAD working paper: more internationalization at Universities of Applied Science
A newly published working paper by DAAD shows a positive development in the internationalization of German Universities of Applied Science in the past years. There are, however, differences among single institutions and some trends specific to universities of applied sciences compared to traditional universities.
