The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), with financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has launched a new programme supporting seven bilateral partnerships between higher education institutions in Germany and developing countries to build bilateral graduate colleges. These colleges, to be established in developing countries with a main focus on Africa, are to draw attention to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the United Nations determined in the 2015 agenda “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Through the programme, German partner universities train teaching staff and specialized experts at Master, PhD and Post-Doc level on site, so that in the future they can help addressing development related aspects.
