DAAD: Joint scholarship programmes with Russia extended

The financial support for the joint scholarship programmes “Michael Lomonosov” and “Immanuel Kant” has been officially extended by the Russian Ministry for Education and Research. Both programmes enable young researchers and professors from Russia to spend some time for research or teaching at a German higher education institution. Up to now, more than 1.500 Russian academics have benefited from those two programmes. The extension of the two programmes, in difficult times, is a signal that both sides attach strong value to the continued dialogue and cooperation between students and teaching staff, according to DAAD-President Prof. Margret Wintermantel.

Academic cooperation between the two nations is a continuous driver in German-Russian relations, and currently there are eight jointly financed stipend programmes between the DAAD and Russian institutions. The DAAD also envisages widening the cooperation with Russia by creating a scholarship programme for an exchange in both ways.
