The programme will be led by Professor Daniel Hamilton, from the Foreign Policy Institute of the John Hopkins University, and by Professor Kristina Spohr, from the Kissinger Center for Global Affairs. The first class of post-doctoral scholars who will join SAIS for the academic year 2018-2019 is made up of five PhD holders, one from the US, two from Germany, one from Denmark and one from Switzerland. Both the new professorship and the post-doctoral programme are funded by the DAAD with funds made available by the German Federal Foreign Office.
The scholars will conduct research via a regular series of high-level seminars, peer review sessions, and opportunities for direct engagement with senior foreign policy practitioners and leading scholars of statecraft and world order. Each Fellow is expected to complete a research paper related to this theme during the period of residence.
