DAAD and IIE: Prizes awarded and received!

Two members of ACA – the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) – have recently been at the centre of prominent award ceremonies. The Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) of the Institute of International Education (IIE) has been selected as “Charity of the Year 2011” by Times Higher Education, being recognised for its nine years of commitment to rescuing threatened scholars from around the world. On the other side of ACA’s global reach, DAAD has awarded the first-ever Theodor Berchem Prize honouring outstanding DAAD personalities who are engaged in internationalisation and interculturalism, as well as in connecting students, scientists and different scientific cultures across borders. The international jury selected Prof. Burkhard Rauhut, former President of RWTH Aachen University and one of the founding fathers of the “GATE Germany” international higher education marketing consortium, as the first recipient of this award, which comes with a prize of EUR 10 000. Congratulations to all from ACA!
