DAAD and DIE publish expert paper on digitisation

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Development Institute (DIE) have published a joint expert paper on digitisation in higher education and research with regards to sustainable development. The paper was developed at the international expert meeting on “Digital Transformation: Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development”, which took place on 8-9 November 2018 in Bonn.

The expert meeting built on four input papers that addressed relevant regional experiences of digitalisation in higher education, i.e. IndiaAfricaindustrialised countries and fragile contexts. Different experts and stakeholders from civil society, government, higher education and research institutions actively engaged in the four round-table discussions that formed the basis for the position paper.

The paper focuses on digitalisation in the context of sustainable development, research, higher education and international cooperation and puts forward a series of recommendations for policymakers, international research networks and HEIs.
