COVID’s Lessons for Global Higher Education.

Salmi, Jamil. (2020). COVID's Lessons for Global Higher Education. Lumina Foundation. Indianapolis, United States.

This study offers a preliminary assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on higher education throughout the world, with a special focus on racial justice and equity.

Many higher education institutions will face real financial peril during the deep recession that many economists predict. The main priority is not to cope with the short-term effects of the pandemic, but to think carefully about how to reshape higher education for long-term resilience. This unprecedented crisis portends drastic structural changes in the educational and business models of colleges and universities.

The study seeks to evaluate, in particular, the special hardships encountered by students from underrepresented groups and the effectiveness of policies and measures put in place to protect and support them at both the national and institutional level.
