Celebrating innovation and building community in higher education

The PROFFORMANCE+ initiative recently marked two significant milestones in advancing teaching and learning across European higher education. At the online final event "Teacher Power! – Higher Education Policy in Action with PROFFORMANCE" on June 4, the winners of the 2024/25 International Higher Education Teacher Award were announced. From 161 submissions representing Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Georgia, Hungary, and Serbia, 17 exceptional projects were recognised. These included 15 international winners and six National Bests, with four projects earning both distinctions. Focused on key themes such as digitalisation, internationalisation, inclusion and diversity, and sustainability, all submitted practices are now accessible in the Teaching Excellence Database, offering ideas and partnership opportunities across institutions.

Meanwhile, the first PROFFORMANCE Network Meet-Up gathered over 50 professionals from 42 institutions across eight countries. These ambassadors, selected through an open call, came together to pilot the PROFFORMANCE Assessment Tool (PAT), which supports institutional teaching development. Participants were introduced to the PROFFORMANCE framework, learned from experienced ambassador Dorina Kissné Fajcsák, and joined a hands-on tutorial session. Each ambassador committed to implementing the PAT at their institution by July 15, 2025. Those interested in testing the toolkit can express their interest here

Those who actively engage in the pilot will have the opportunity to take part in the PROFFORMANCE Simulation Game, scheduled for October 2025 in Budapest. This event will simulate a full teaching and learning development cycle and further strengthen cross-border collaboration. Together, the award ceremony and ambassador meet-up highlight a shared commitment to improving teaching quality and fostering innovation throughout the European Higher Education Area.
