Catch the ESNtrain!

On 16 October 2009, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) will celebrate its 20th anniversary. As the date represents a milestone in the ESN history, all the activities and projects of the organisation for 2009 will be related to the event, and will involve the entire network, Erasmus and international students and to a certain extent, the general public. Part of this celebration campaign is also the ESNtrain project – a quite innovative initiative aiming at creating an opportunity for dialogue between European students and citizens from different cultures, with different professions and characters. As the title suggests, the train, consisting of 16 wagons, will cross Europe during 25 days, visiting 40 cities in 18 countries, and passing through 90 UNESCO world heritage sites. The train will accommodate up to 700 passengers each day. The trip will start on 28 March 2009, in Bratislava and will end on 21 April. Other activities in the honour of the 20th ESN anniversary include creating a ‘Birthday book’, and the Postcard and Give20 campaigns.

Those who want to catch the ESNtrain, or get involved in the campaigns, should contact the ‘conductors’ Bernhard Jäggle (project coordinator) and Matthias Fenner (ESN President).
