Cedefop – the European Center for the Development of Vocational Education and Training – will offer a two-year service contract to the selected service provider or consortium to carry out a research project on the macroeconomic benefits of vocational education and training (VET). The objective of the contract is to investigate the macroeconomic benefits of investing in initial and continuing VET in EU countries. Based on macroeconometric analysis, the research shall outline the comparative benefits of VET and general education, and the comparative benefits of different types of VET.
Based on the findings, the research shall make recommendations for future VET policies, and the coordination between VET and general education. The research project envisaged in the course of the service contract will contribute to Cedefop's research programme on the economic and social benefits of VET.
